National Health Action Party
The National Health Action Party was formed at the end of 2012 by campaigners including  Drs Clive Peedell & Richard Taylor who believe that a new political party is needed to defend the NHS and its values. Together with other health care professionals, they were seriously concerned that the Coalition Government’s Health & Social Care Act 2012 and other policies would trash the founding principles of the NHS:
  • Comprehensive treatment, within available resources
  • Universal access, based on need, not ability to pay
  • Services delivered free at the point of delivery
The party argues that the government has misled the public about its plans for the NHS and needs to be challenged at the ballot box and they will be standing a candidate, Dr Louise Irvine (a Lewisham GP who was central to the Save Lewisham Hospital Campaign) in the EU elections.
