Campaign to seek views of candidates in the May 2014 London local elections.

City & Hackney Campaign to Save the NHS ( incorporating Hackney KONP)
Hackney Council elections
candidates’ pledge on
privatisation of local NHS services

I am committed to an NHS which is universal, free, publicly funded, publicly provided and publicly accountable

I oppose the privatisation and marketisation of health services and pledge to do all in my power to protect local health services through:
  • Supporting our City & Hackney doctors and Clinical Commissioning Group in any stand they take against the privatisation of local NHS service
  • Opposing the opening up of core NHS services to competitive tendering and privatisation
  • Working to ensure that expenditure on local health services, including public health, and social care services, is maintained and increased and that tackling     health inequalities remains a priority
I further pledge to campaign within my own Party, both locally and nationally, to ensure that it includes in its manifesto for the next general election a commitment to:
  • repeal the Health and Social Care Act 2012 and reverse the privatisation and marketisation of the NHS.
  • restore the obligation on the Secretary of State for Health to provide a comprehensive national health service.
